Starship Troopers 1997
One of the best sci-films ever. Recently rewatched the 4k and it looks so much better than half the blockbusters released today and breezes by. Paul Verhoeven is a master of saying what he means and the fact it goes over so many peoples heads is astonishing.

Thank You for Your Service 2017
Soldiers return home traumatized from combat, we've seen this done many times before, often better. At times Miles Teller is really selling it, he's an amazing actor who generally always works for me, but other times he felt like a fish out of water. Beulah Koale on the other hand is incredible and really steals the whole film. I couldn't help but wonder the whole time watching it, "Why have I not seen this guy in more movies." Overall I enjoyed this.

La La Land 2016
This was truly great. When they say they don't make 'em like they used to, they're talking about movies like this.

American Fiction 2023
Great central premise and I loved Jeffrey Wright's performance, but I almost wish they had done more with it. It almost felt at times that the film was torn between being a satire that lambasts faux-liberal YT people and the publishing industry and being a melodrama revolving around a rocky relationship and a aging mother. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this a lot and thought Issa Rae was great as well, but there's a great scene early on that made me think this was gonna go one way, but it never delivers on the promise from that early scene.
