If I had a nickel for every 2024 film about an american novice nun arriving in italy and being forced to carry a religiously motivated pregnancy (that was better than it had any right to be), I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

Promising Young Woman 2020
Incompetent, poorly written and politically extremely confused. Indulges in the aesthetic of sexual violence but fails to explore either the reality or the consequences of it. This infantile fantasy seems to treat an individual woman’s rape as part of some wider collective trauma, to which every woman in her life is able to lay claim.
