Person who’s only seen Hereditary watching Don’t Look Now: damn, this is a lot like Hereditary

Ruth Gordon is just incandescent. Maude could so easily slide into manic pixie dream grandma territory, but both the script and Gordon’s performance keep her firmly grounded. She isn’t joyful and eccentric and impulsive just because that’s her personality, or because it’s what she needs to be for Harold’s arc; she’s joyful and eccentric and impulsive because she’s chosen to be, because she’s built this life for herself and earned every quirk and gesture. She’s worked for her happiness, and that’s why it’s so satisfying to see her revel in it.

Also, Uncle Victor’s unfolding salute sleeve? One of the top visual gags in cinema.
