it's time for everyone with an account on letterboxd dot com to watch cecil b. demented (2000) dir. john waters
In the age of Marvel, this film has never been as relevant and important as it is now.
When I first watched this, shortly after it hit the rental market, I didn't know John Waters from Adam, really. I didn't understand his style. I didn't know, either, any of the directors he would cite here, but I did know I shared his apparent distaste for Forrest Gump and Patch Adams. And obviously, I didn't really know that so many of these actors would go on to some great work (Larry Gilliard most notably becoming the heart and soul of the first season of The Wire). I enjoyed it, but I didn't truly get it.

"make good movies or DIE!"
movies about filmmaking are simply the best, even better if they have gay michael shannon and a bunch of people hating on american adaptations of foreign films and forrest gump. cannot wait to keep exploring the pure insanity of john waters’ films.
"There are no rules in underground cinema, only edges."
