Red River 1948
I watched the "pre-release" version which is the longer version but not the director's cut. Didn't know until I was halfway through that there were multiple versions. The pre-release version has some extra scenes and instead of narration from Walter Brennan the film crossfades optical pages from a book. If I had known the criterion released shorter version was Hawks' preferred version I would've watched that but I didn't mind any of the unique elements of the pre-release version. I…

I wouldn't go as far as to put this film on the same level as Rob Zombie's Halloween II. Halloween II is a misunderstood modern masterpiece. Freddy vs. Jason is a film that caters to all my personal horror needs. One is a critically disliked masterpiece and one is a critically disliked movie that is just a very good action-horror hybrid.
