Escape from L.A. 1996
Pretty batshit but mostly enjoyable if you are willing to suspend disbelief regarding hang gliders, sex changes, surf boarding, blanks, submarines, viruses, basketball, legislation, and earthquakes.
For someone who demands to be called freaking “Snake” of all things he was really stubborn about calling Hershe “Hershe.”

The Color Purple 2023
I saw American Fiction a week before seeing this, and when I saw this it was in a theater full of enthusiastic old whites. Maybe try to avoid doing it that way if you want to enjoy this. If I didn’t do it that way, I think this still would have sucked. A musical with bad music is unredeemable.

@ The New Beverly with a mostly full theater of people pumped to laugh and cheer. The aerial shot of John McClane ejecting from an exploding cockpit is peak cinema.
