The Dark Knight Rises 2012

I think this movie has a bit of a pacing issue (the third act moves fast), but damn is it a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. Batman inspiring Gotham’s heroes in the light of day to reclaim their city, and then saving it one last time—inspiring generations to come—is powerful stuff. And…

Barbie 2023
A little disappointed with this one. For all its insistence that it’s actually a smart, “grown-up” film, it still is pretty run-of-the-mill “fantasy girl discovers the real world and inspires young girl” fare. The mom and daughter were acted so stiffly, and I found their lines and role in the plot to be pretty corny. The mom’s rant was hard to sit through (not for its content, but for its dialogue and delivery).

Leaving Neverland 2019
Just plain depressing.
Edit: welp, after a bit of research I’ve revised from 3.5 stars to a half. This series is full of self-contradictions and factual inaccuracies, not to mention an interview scene that was reconstructed months later (admitted by Dan Reed himself), presumably so that they could add in more dramatic lines. Reed is a hack and these people are all liars and traitors.
