Close Encounters of the Third Kind 1977
Steven Spielberg's first movie about extraterrestrials is a minor masterpiece. We don't really get movies this sincere anymore, give or take THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS. This is the rare alien invasion movie that dares to imagine benevolence, using the story of a family (and father) coming apart at the seams to explore whether or not we allow ourselves to hope in the face of an uncertain future. Burrows into your mind your head like an ear-worm, like the five-note CLOSE ENCOUNTERS tune that comes from the sky. Also: keep an eye out for R2D2!

Snack Shack 2024
This is the story of A.J. (Conor Sherry) and Moose (Gabriel LaBelle), two best buds who run the snack shack at the local pool. They get into schemes and hijinks typical of teenagers in the 90s -- girls, money, drinking, all of it forming a potent cocktail of puberty-charged ridiculousness.
Funny, foul-mouthed, and incredibly charming, SNACK SHACK remembers the way summers felt when you were a kid -- a vast expanse of limitless potential, a stretch of time where anything could happen and, if you weren't careful, you might emerge on the other side a fully-grown adult. Or at least... you'd be on your way.

I truly believe this is a perfect piece of entertainment.
