Slow 2023
This was a real joy to watch, just made with such an assured sense of tone that it's a pleasure to spend time with. The authenticity of the connection between the leads, and how that was kind of effortlessly dramatised, put me in mind of The Worst Person in the World, a film I think succeeds in similar ways to this one. Recommended!

Mogwai: If the Stars Had a Sound 2024
Definitely one that's more for the fans than a casual listener looking for an intro, but having just read Stuart Braithwaite's book, I loved this. All the early footage from 13th Note/King Tuts gigs is great, and there's some fascinating stuff on their recording process, finding songs etc. Alex Kapranos and Ian Rankin give really good insights too.

Pacifiction 2022
There's a scene in this where our main character sits in his car and monologues, seemingly endlessly, to the man sitting next to him, who is desperately fighting to stay awake. Watching this film, I was that man.

Not Another Happy Ending 2013
"Sometimes love needs a rewrite" says the tagline. So do some movies, and this is one of them.
