To my dad,
I know this film means the world to you and now I can say that having seen it, it means the world to me as well.

Let this film be a toast to our new podcast

I had never in my life seen a film that had such a genuine understanding of life and the essence there of.

To explain it better, imagine a film that lies between all of the perfection of The Perks Of Being a Wallflower and The 400 Blows. The wonderful product of that is Astrakan

This film is an experience unlike any other I’d ever had. I got so genuinely transported to the life of this child. I felt with him,…

A beautiful video by Gunch talking about Argylle said something that really stuck out to me. He said, having seen many films, he looks for films that have a human voice behind them. That really struck me. You don’t think sometimes about how machine made so many films are.

With that said, there are films such as Astrakan that feel like the product of true humanity. A film that has the view of what it’s like to be human and…

I’d like to preface by saying the following: if you’re within the first few years, god, however long into your film journey, there is always more to see. Therefore, your list of favorites should be ever changing. Don’t let people tell you it’s wrong to say a film is a new favorite. When it comes to film, don’t let people tell you how to do anything. This is all so subjective and you should love yourself for loving what you…

Samantha Mathis liked my tweet, so I had to rewatch it. I know Gemma will be proud.

Pump Up the Volume is an early 90s classic that has aged well (minus the cassette players and bad hairdos). It stars Christian Slater and one of my first crushes, Samantha Mathis. The soundtrack is perfect (Spotify), setting a tone for the film in various scenes.

I hope Hollywood stays far away from remaking this film. If they made an attempt, the pirate…

Saltburn is a very masterful study of the lengths of an animal and the distances it will go to catch it's prey. I found it to be a beautiful yet disgusting experience that had me glued to the screen for its whole duration. It was well paced to a point where it felt like a mere 45 minute short film although it was 2 hours and 10 minutes. A shocking final scene that was just perfect for the film leading up to that point. A garnish of sorts. I loved this one so much! Thanks Jagger for making me watch it.

So wild and unhinged that it can’t be taken seriously. An absolute blast!

And my friend loved it and he’s not a huge movie guy.

Highly recommend showing it to someone who has no clue what it is, their reactions are priceless!
