Screened this as part of my monthly ‘Fun Time Film Club’ at Lido Cinemas. I’m so glad I did as this is a great example of a film that plays so much better with a crowd.

The skeleton army is so funny.

messy in its main allegory of toxic relationships and some of the acting leaves a bit to be desired, but i liked touching on the cycle of abuse and the direction is impressive for a debut! April Consalo really carries the movie, and i’ll always love some cheap and nasty gore

ok she ATE that

Yes, commenting in my own film. Was proud to have this finally be released publicly in a festival. Proud of my team and cast. More crew not named on here so come to a screening to see full list of everyone helping out.
Keen for more screenings soon.

The Raid

The Raid

★★★★★

This just ignites something within me I cannot fully articulate. This is truly one of the the most comprehensivly storyboarded action films of all time, it feels natural and organically frenetic but it is clearly so meticulously planned the more I watch it. A total crowd pleaser on every level. Every scene of violence has its place to propel us forward, the stunt choreo is undeniably unique with it's embracing of Silat to the point I still question how it…

Dogman

Dogman

★★★★

An absolute ripper of a thriller, superb performances by man and canine alike.

This is a drama about just wanting to be with your boys

Played out like a well-made Stephen King novel, I was surprised by the sombre tone in this, I was expecting more ridiculousness and comically absurd.

Yet in no way is the criticism, to have this premise and keep it so within its restraints is an accomplishment.

Another year-end to my favourite film festival here, FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL AUSTRALIA!

I don't think the film is anywhere near as smart or original as it thinks it is, but this lo-fi retro futurist science fiction stuff is just catnip for me. Shooting on 16mm black and white film, using some fun Harryhausen-esque stop motion and Stephen Dorff giving an unhinged performance are all added bonuses.
