I loved this, as I expected from Liu Jian's previous movie Have a Nice Day. It's such a treat to get a new movie from a director you love that fully delivers on your expectations, without repeating their previous work.
There is a sense of progression from Have a Nice Day in a few ways. The characters are rich and understated. The story, which is at least partly autobiographical, doesn't ebb and flow in the ways I expected it to,…
First shot: camera flies over a green eternity of the jungle
Me: 5 stars
So smart, so delicate, so nuanced, so visually pleasing. The way every line and every decision made total sense yet still remained amusing — a masterclass in emotive filmmaking.
Is there a better Nigerian film (satire) that captures the existence of Nigeria. I don't think so.
The Lost Okoroshi is a wonderfully original and surprising Nigerian film that has all the makings of a new cult classic. I want to spread the word about this little movie, because it really is something special. I can’t even say how good this movie is!!!! I loved it sm its so magical and interesting and sweet and funny and a little scary
The plot is very offbeat and kafkaesque, the costumes and editing and the camera work and even the color grading is so good it feels like eating candy bc everything is so soft and colorful, the characters are so lovable and special and beautiful and their acting is hella good, the subtext was super…
This is a horror movie
Between the re-enactments and the special features on the Dekanalog release, I had to give this 5 stars.
Some reviewers claim these re-enactments are exploitative, but as I watched it reminded me of the case scenarios and simulation scenarios used in our education in nursing school and hospital training. I rated it 4 stars on the re-enactments alone. I agree these are intense and anxiety inducing to watch, especially to know that these incidents actually happened to real people, while…
one of the most intense viewing experiences i ever had. i screamed out loud several times and was holding my breath throughout.
i picked up the recent dekanalog release and opted for a 3d viewing, which i think is the best way to go about watching this.
i fly a lot, and i have a dad who flies even more. i usually don’t even think about the possible issues that could occur during a flight, so i usually fly in…
