The Second Annual Austins

For the second year in a row, we are so excited to have our very own award show where we can highlight some of the films we adored from the most recent year in cinema. What made this year so special is that for the very first time we had completely new categories AND you — our amazing listeners — were the voting body for the awards!

Yo, wtf. This is a pretty mean spirited movie. I always thought this was about her stealing her friend from an awful woman who is no good for him. Cameron Diaz is a saint, and she doesn't deserve this.

Julianne and Michael are both awful, immature people who would rather play wedding chicken than just come out with it. Terrible. Also, Julianne Potter sounds like the fake name Julia Roberts checks into hotels with in real life.

Taking Julianne on…

Really glad to have finally watched this! I’ve never been interested in Christopher Guest’s films, but friends of mine hold this one especially in very high regard, so I figured I would give it a shot.

VERY funny nearly throughout. Out loud laughs from the first scene to the credits. A lovable cast of weirdos doing their best? The raw energy of a small town theatre production?! All things I love.

Down a full star because the pacing is kinda nuts and there’s long stretches of just quiet shuffling and dialogue that doesn’t land for me. Then up one half star because Parker Posey 😍

The Dimension logo right into the action movie ocean flyover, complete with soundtrack of the late 90s early 2000s makes you think you are about to get Goldeneye or The Rock. And you kinda do, but our main action stars are indeed minor in size.
Add the immensely talented and king showman Alan Cumming and outpouring of memes from this and its sequel. Still silly fun!
The first time I saw this was amongst 8 year olds, during a child's birthday party,  it was 2002 and didn't pay attention to all the little Rodriguez hints and winks for all the adults watching the screen.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AT THAT REHEARSAL DINNER???

seeing the sheer amount of people who were tapped and auditioned for this movie is MIND blowing
