Like an entire season of your favorite comic book soap opera scrambled into 2 hours and 19 minutes, forgiveness as a superpower and selflessness as a nonnegotiable lesson when coming of age. Sam Raimi the man who can animate drying paint, that there isn’t a drop of irony in the whole thing is both a comforting escape and sad reminder that these just don’t look like they used to. Mary Jane Watson you are literally stronger than the marines.

    Spider-Man: No Way Home

Made a viddy vid, you’ve heard it all before, I think the first half is pretty weak but the second half made up for it with well-executed fan service and darker moments that weren’t interrupted by bad jokes. At the end of the day it was good and the ending was very promising. But, it’s still a marvel movie yall, I’m glad it lived up to expectations but let’s slow down with the best picture thing😫

WHY ARE YALL SAYING WE ONLY LIKE THE RAIMI FILMS BECAUSE OF NOSTALGIA BUT NOW NO WAY HOME IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER

I have to see it again + do a vid, but this might be the film that makes me come around on Tom’s spidey, especially with that ending. I don’t like how incompetent they make him just because he’s young, seems like the easy way to create conflict, and that’s no different with the entire premise of this…

    Spider-Man: Far from Home

I like this one better than Homecoming because I feel like they were a bit more creative, and at this point I was mostly looking to be entertained than see my ideal Spider-Man. Mysterio is a good villain IMO, even if he turned evil because Tony Stark called his tech BARF, and the illusion scenes are really awesome. Feel like they got a little more emotionally heavy with Peter, especially in his scene with Happy on the jet - I really…

    Spider-Man: Homecoming

    ★★

Meh I don’t know. I watched this a while ago and didn’t log it because there isn’t much I care to say and I get too dramatic about spidey. I feel like everyone loses their shit over the car scene, but otherwise, what is there? It’s a coming of age comedy. Though, to be fair, I’ve never enjoyed what the MCU did with Peter, and I suppose it’s mostly personal taste. A Spider-Man story within the confines of the MCU…

    The Amazing Spider-Man

    ★★½

Next stop on my journey to revisit all things Spider-Man. This isn’t an abomination of a movie, it’s just not a very good movie, and it’s not a very good Spider-Man movie. It does have its moments, and it does take the cake for best swinging scenes between the three spideys. The greatest joy of it is the incomprehensible mumbling that is every conversation between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Like, not a single coherent sentence comes from either of them. Comedy gold.

*finger guns* Spider-Man 3 is good *hip thrusts*

Sam Raimi hates Spider-Man 3 and has said he didn’t believe in the characters, and you can definitely feel that here when compared to 1 and 2. But I think his pure talent as a filmmaker and the foundation built by the two previous films saves it from being a soulless mess. This is still a really great movie! I say this like every day but the reason why Marvel doesn’t succeed in the…

Revisiting these I’m appreciating even more Raimi’s attention to what comes together in the train scene (maybe the best superhero scene of all time??) - what a hero means to the community, and Peter’s arc of having to sacrifice what he wants in life for the greater good (with great power comes great responsibility, obv). Only by accepting that is he able to be with MJ and get over his spidey slump. It’s not complicated but somehow no other superhero…
