    MICHAEL MANN FACTS!!!!!!!!

Blown away by this. Not only is Foxx and Cruise’s chemistry off the charts, but what a patient and symbolic thrill ride that ends with such a bang. The dialogue is DRIPPING with meaning and suspense. Cruise is a terrifying malevolent force and Foxx is just a guy, both stagnant and solitary, but one of them has a chance to take the leap out. No definitive answers, like life, but certainly a lot to think about. Really…

    FCC movie of the week!

Fellas, imagine this: you have a post nut clarity moment about the Russians contaminating your precious bodily fluids - do you walk it off or start a nuclear holocaust?

While Dr. Strangelove always had me intrigued, it became clear around the 30 minute mark that this was a full blown black satire that employed both genius spoof comedy (that surely influenced things such as Airplane!, which I love dearly) and clever mockery of U.S. and Soviet…

    FCC movie of the week!

I’m not going to rate this because admittedly I struggled to pay attention for some of it (maybe I’ll give it another shot eventually). Try as I might I just cannot get into these films, they feel so cold to me. And, ya know, as a woman there’s not much to connect with here lol but I can appreciate the era and that this started such an iconic formula/franchise.

Some stuff that’s cool now and…

    FCC movie of the week!

Wow, this was amazing. A riveting love story, but not in the typical sense. The passively clever dialogue that defines many films from this era paired with a compelling and perfectly paced premise. And it’s just plain funny (darkly so).

I’m having a hard time coming up with more to say right now, I’m not sure why. I simply loved it. Sometimes that’s just how it crumbles, cookie-wise.

    Oh, and it’s a Christmas movie🎄

It’s still fuck Roman Polanski but damn if that piece of human scum didn’t make some good movies. And influential ones - there are so many connections to be drawn here oh my goodness.

Shitty remake with Maya Hawke anyone?

FCC spooky movie of the week!

I knew what I was getting into here based on what House is known for - and it absolutely delivered as a visual feast and treat for the senses from start to finish. I am SO shook at how some of that was even conceptualized, a lot of it I understand came from the director’s daughter. I hate to report though that I got pretty bored from time to time - I have always had…

FCC spooky movie of the week!

“Villainy wears many masks; none so dangerous as the mask of virtue.”

Loved this way more than I was expecting! A macabre gothic mystery about greed, grief, and the battle for reason when confronted with the supernatural. A movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously and everyone keeps fainting lol. Tim Burton/Andrew Kevin Walker took some liberties with the original story that I think paid off, third act dragged on way too long though.

+ needless to say young Johnny Depp could cut my head off with those cheek bones and I’d say thank you

    80-100 👏🏼 minute 👏🏼 movie 👏🏼 supremacy 👏🏼

This was good! But just good. The first act built tension really well, but I feel like it lacked the cleverness and craziness that a sci fi horror film needs to be great. Once the characters knew what was going on the conclusion was a bit underwhelming. But, the length and pacing were a plus and Kevin McCarthy/Dana Wynter were great. Just wish it had a little more ~spice~
