    3:10 to Yuma

    ★★★★

Those who nitpick at how realistic the action sequences are in this movie have valid concerns, but seem to be missing the point. 3:10 to Yuma is not a perfect film but it more than makes up for its flaws with unforgettable dialogue, gripping chemistry between Bale and Crowe, and a thought provoking escapade. Was it all really worth it to bring one man to justice? Do we keep fighting for what’s right when we don’t think we can win?…

    ★★

Tom Brady propaganda happening at the oddest possible time. Your grandma’s new favorite movie, not since Belfast have I seen so many AARP members cracking up at an early screening. The leads are such firecrackers that it manages to be cute despite a lukewarm script, but I wish it went way further to take advantage of the cast. Also apparently they made this whole movie but Tom Brady never went to meet the actual women it’s based on..? I guess I’ll settle on this rating. Fever dream movie.

It’s possible I just have a very short-lived appetite for the brand of horror that Radio Silence puts out, but this felt very conveyor belt to me compared to the witty, fully realized thrill ride of Ready or Not (they share a lot of similarities). Of course the premise is fun and makes for some pleasing moments of blood and guts, and the cast is easily the strongest element, but lots of jokes don’t work and I just can’t get…

As the daughter of an Italian immigrant i was guaranteed to find this pretty funny, but it’s also refreshing that it just stays in its lane of being a classic, low stakes family comedy. Sebastian Maniscalco can be grating sometimes but I didn’t mind him at all here, and Robert De Niro returns to his Meet the Parents roots. Not too bad. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and father figures, to those who have a reason not to celebrate I’m thinking of u too💙

Yes! Yes! So happy I got to see this in theaters tonight, a film I actually knew very little about so was able to discover the Spielbergian wonder and heart-stopping resurrection scene like I was sitting right there in 1989. Sweating buckets one moment and feeling like a child the next. Is this really about that?! And how did Cameron do literally any of it? In any other context the fantastical elements and the ending sentiments would be so silly but…

A movie about a dad believing in his son :)

Yeah, I’d like to prioritize my integrity as a critic over my M. Night bias and I unfortunately don’t fall into the “this is great, actually” camp but it is not as bad as you people say!! It has a bigger heart than most blockbuster fare, that’s probably its best asset, but I just don’t think this man is fit for large scale, populist cinema. He specializes in contained, subtle…

You never really shake that feeling of seeing darkness in your parents that you don’t understand yet. The sudden realization that holes are being poked in your perfect image of them, and you don’t know whether to resent them or pity them or all of the above. I don’t like to get very personal with reviews but it’s hard to separate my thoughts on Aftersun from my own experiences, and it’s worth mentioning that I’ve probably never felt so acutely…
