Hell fucking yeah guys In a Violent Nature is a guaranteed cult favorite and the midnight crowd at Sundance went absolutely buck wild for it. Slasher tropes dismembered and put back together again, following the killer not the victims. Some of the gnarliest kills l've ever seen. There are obviously lots of slashers that try to pay homage and/or do something ‘different’ but, especially after hearing the Q&A, the combination here is genuinely singular and hard not to be fascinated by even if the deliberately slow pacing can be a challenge. Video game sound designers, the physicality of a villain, Gus Van Sant inspo, imagining it as a sequel… this one’s special! I can’t wait to see it again. Shudder continues to slay and Chris Nash officially has my attention.
