The Planet of the Apes series to bridge the gap and pay homage to previous films, whether the films of the 60s and 70s or the remake trilogy of the 2010s should be studied, because it is that love that keeps many so invested. I instantly fell in love with this world and its characters, while I think there are some pacing issues in how this story is told, how much ground they are trying to cover, and this film’s…

Butt Boy 2019
25th Maryland Film Festival
Film #5Cinema has peaked, or crowned maybe? Absurdly funny in the darkest way possible and the crime elements really added to those elements. It’s a film that shows so much in its first 10 minutes and then completely unfolds in the wildest way possible. Wow! Why is the score so low? Maybe seeing this in a theater with a crowd knowing it wae curated by John Waters shifted so much of my perception and I am glad for it!

Consequences 2018
One Popular Film Around The World Challenge Film #70
SloveniaShockingly, the first queer film made in Slovenia was released in 2018 and Consequences ability to reflect on queerness and how toxic masculinity poisons that freedom is beyond needed, but so much lacked. This was a film that was ultimately fine and really suffered from a lack of characterization of really anyone. A sad boy with a rat wasn’t quite enough for me, even if I think the film’s approach is unique.

Have not seen this one since I was 9 or 10 through a bootleg DVD! Honestly one of those horror films that really peaked my imagination when I was younger, although I knew I had remembered it through some rose-tinted glasses. I love the idea of blending a legal drama with a supernatural horror film, but each of those halves only shine with some brilliance. Jennifer Carpenter is really amazing here though and easily the highlight, especially during her possession scenes!

Meet Cute 2022
People are giving this way too much credit, this was awful. Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson are two actors I really defend and each have been on a really poor television show that was not representative of their talent, but this was rough. The concept is never fully utilized, they have zero chemistry, and worse, this develops into the worst co-dependent relationship and has really weird moral lessons, like your trauma makes you who you are so you need your…
