Women Talking 2022
Wrote about two of my favorite films of the year, Women Talking and She Said - which also happen to be two of the most important films of the year as well, in my opinion - and why it’s essential for the industry that they be uplifted this awards season and not diminished by superficial critiques.

Women Talking 2022
Women Talking is so many things, all at the same time, and all of them absolutely stunning. An empathetic epic on an intimate scale. A radical act of female reinvention. And an emotionally enlightening examination of our eternal struggle to (safely) secure our space in the world. Sarah Polley’s delicate direction and sensitive screenplay pair like poetry, while the entire ensemble is so uniformly exceptional that I struggle to single out a favorite performance at the moment - though Claire…

CODA 2021
One of the best movies of 2021 comes out this week.
Simultaneously familiar and fresh, CODA is a new coming-of-age classic, anchored by an enormously entertaining ensemble and strengthened by screenwriting that delicately depicts the deaf community with compassion, (respectful) comedy, and candor. I loved every minute.
Don’t miss it on Apple TV+ on Friday!

I’ve seen a lot of people bemoan it’s Best Adapted Screenplay win, but I’d say it’s definitely deserved - my…
