struggling to find the words to sum up all the thoughts i have right now and all the things this made me feel so i’ll start with just one: human. remarkably honest, imperfect, angry, and ugly in a deeply human way that art is rarely ever allowed to be. both a reflection of What The World Has Become™ - or maybe always was - and also ourselves, accompanied by a sobering reminder that we have far more in common with each other than that which divides us.
watched this with my mom and when it was over she said “this is how i felt about austin butler after elvis”
knew this was gonna be my shit as soon as it started with a dedication to “mom and joel schumacher.” vera drew is a goddamn legend and this film is gonna save lives. her whole heart and soul was spilled across that screen in every single scene, and it’s such a gift we got to see it.
