I'll admit that this film is not perfectly shot, but every single other aspect is perfect. It's one of the best movies ever made. I have seen it 4 or 5 times and it just keeps getting better so I've got to finally bestow it my extremely rare 5 star rating.

Black Sunday 1960
An Italian amalgamation of Universal horror pictures. I don't think it stands out much. It's slower than the American films of the same style which is not typical of Italian filmmaking from my experience, although this may be the earliest Italian film I've seen. It's decent, and well worth a watch for horror aficionados, but an early "meh" from Bava in my eyes.

Dawn of the Dead 1978
George Romero really built an entire genre with his Dead films. Each one of his zombie films builds on the last but if you watch any modern zombie film you'll see the influence of all of Romero's. 70s horror has a distinct feel to it that is definitely in here but outside of the aesthetic, the concepts feel timeless. Must watch for any horror movie fan.

Blade Runner 1982
Somebody on r/Letterboxd asked what movies the whole world has seen that we haven't so I said Blade Runner. A Letterboxd buddy of mine, Nick, said we should both watch it within a week and share our thoughts. We both ended up watching it within 24 hours tho, so that's cool.
I can't even begin to comprehend how this movie was made. The sets are so impressive. Everything feels futuristic, yet lived in. The dreamlike, jazzy atmosphere was unexpected. Iβ¦
